Could Trump Spur a China-India ‘Dragon-Elephant Tango'?

China is far from being alone when it comes to using animalistic metaphors in its political imagery. After all, Russia has its ferocious bear, the US its high-flying eagle and the British their plucky bulldog. But when it comes to imagery, it's kind of hard to top a dragon. Back in the days of Mao Zedong, the US was dubbed a 'paper tiger' and its allies 'running dogs' of American imperialism. Those labels may be long gone, but the creative juices are still flowing in Beijing, as seen this week when Vice President Han Zheng touted the benefits of a 'dragon-elephant tango' involving warmer Chinese and Indian ties.
